Seven Reasons Why Dogs Are Men's Best Friend

Almost everybody has known this clever little saying that a dog is man's best friend. Quite unfair for cat lovers wouldn't you say? Probably not. There's a reason why people have tagged dogs to be their most trusted companion. But to be fair to other pet owners, dogs are generally accepted as man's best friend. Why is that? Well, where should we start? There could be countless reasons as to why this is so.

1. They are incredibly affectionate animals.

Oh snap, aren't we affectionate animals as well? No wonder dogs and men can quickly form a bond between beast and master. But besides this label, the bond between us and our pets go beyond just master and pet. People sometimes even consider them as part of their family. Their pets have their very own birthday. Isn't that just cute?

2. Aside from companionship, they are incredibly loyal.

Never have we heard of a story wherein a dog betrays his master in favor for another one if they have been treated well. Such are the behavior of dogs - unflinching loyalty no matter what. Now that's a comforting fact.

3. They're cute.

If actions speak louder than words, dogs are pretty much right up there next to humans. With their inability to talk, one might think it would be really hard to understand them but yet they're quite simple.

4. They can be depended on.

There have been many accounts wherein dogs are credited with saving people's lives. This is no fluke though as Saint Bernard dogs have been used as rescue dogs in the Alpine mountains. Dogs, depending on their breed, are strong creatures. Their power and their sheer size have definitely been to the advantage of men who have been saved by such.

5. They help safeguard your home.

Dogs like a Rottweiler and a German Shepherd have been used as attack dogs for many years now. Police Forces around the world have utilized the capabilities of such dogs by establishing K-9 units and training many dogs to become bomb and drug sniffing ones. Because of such dogs, public places like airports, malls, and train stations are now quite safer.

6. They keep you from being alone.

If you've seen the latest remake of the movie I Am Legend, you will see that Will Smith's character, Dr. Robert Neville, was dependent on companionship through his beloved dog. Many might argue what role his dog played, but it is without a doubt that Dr. Robert Neville had somehow managed to keep his sanity through his dog. No man is an island and he definitely needed someone to interact with that whole time that he was under the impression that he truly was indeed the last man on earth.

7. They help brighten up our day.

Dogs somehow have this sense that their masters are nearby whenever they have left their homes. How many times have you noticed your dogs waiting enthusiastically at the door when you open it? It's quite comforting and uplifting when you're met with such longing.
