Why Does Everybody Love Puppies?
Bark! Bark! Don't we all know that oh so familiar sound. It's the sound of our dogs doing something insanely cute for us to fawn all over.
Everybody loves puppies. Maybe it's because there's something about them that brings us this overwhelming sense of joy whenever we seem them, play with them and pet them. Puppies are definitely a Godsend and if you don't see the point of loving them, why don't you ask the person next to you?
If you're not a pet person, it doesn't really matter. You will fall in love with them. Why do you think the term puppy love exists anyway?
1. It's because of their incredibly cute look.
Are we just built that way? You know, to become suckers for things that'll easily pass as a twenty on a cuteness scale of one to ten. Puppies definitely are a twenty in most people's books. Maybe it's because they're so appealing to us with that incredibly innocent look that they have on their face.
Maybe we all need a reminder of our own innocence from time to time. Living in a world that's so relentless and cut-throat makes us sometimes forget about the more precious things in life. We live our lives so fast that we sometimes forget to pause once in a while to catch our breath.
2. Their constant need of affection makes us feel better.
Why is it that puppies or perhaps even dogs in general are always in need of their master's affection? This unspoken bond between man and beast has somehow transcended through countless generations. Blind people use them as seeing-eye dogs. Most of the people who have dogs use them as companions. Whatever their purpose for having dogs is one thing remains clear. We need them just as much as they need us.
3. Is it because of a subconscious thing about parenthood?
Most of us can't wait to grow up, have a family and raise our children in the best way we can. Such is the dream for most men and women in our society and why is that? Perhaps it's because we have this innate capacity of parenthood programmed into our genes already that we somehow yearn for a family of our own.
Puppies are a lot like babies. They need to be fed and cared for during their stage of infancy. When your mommy dog has given birth to a lot of puppies, some puppies might not get enough nourishment from their mothers. One dog can only have so many nipples for her puppies to breastfeed on. If we don't do anything about it, there is a very likely chance of those unlucky puppies not being able to make it past infancy.
Call it survival of the fittest. But when we're capable of changing a single puppy's fate, we can't just leave their lives to natural selection. All these things grow us into the mothers and fathers that we've always pictured ourselves out to be.
